April Show at the Fitchburg Art Museum
We are happy to announce a members-only juried show at Fitchburg Art Museum in Fitchburg, MA, www.fitchburgartmuseum.org, April 1 - 29, 2014. The theme is "On the Edge," in all its visual and personal and cultural meanings - we'd like artists to be adventurous in their interpretations.
"On the Edge" at the Fitchburg Art Museum had an amazing number of entries: 92 people submitted work. These entries are being prepared for our juror Debra Olin. Participating artists will be notified March 14.
We hope to see you at the reception is Sunday, April 6. If you have questions about the exhibition, please contact Wendy Converse directly at email@example.com.

This two-day workshop is a guided exploration of combining and creating relief and monotype plates. We will carve and incise plastic substrate plates that can be rolled for relief printing and altered with monotype inking techniques. This is a playful method of introducing a quick carved line or form into the monotype, creating a rich vocabulary of mark making. The workshop is open to both the beginning and experienced printmaker.
Joyce Silverstone is planning a relaxed and experimental experience with many small carved plates moving in and out of play. There will be no pressure to produce a final piece, but more of a focus on the process. We will explore and learn what is possible with this easy to carve plate combined with monotype printing techniques. The studio will provide the essential fundamentals: ink, plates, some paper. Recommend you bring an apron; gloves (like light garden gloves or latex gloves to protect your hands while you carve; reference materials or natural objects to inspire you.
