The MGNE's fall members' juried exhibition "Small Works" opened
at the Munroe Center for the Arts in Lexington, MA on September 15th.
Members and guests enjoyed the Opening Reception and awards presentation
on Saturday September 22nd from 2 - 4pm.

Juror: Catherine Kernan



Catherine is a painter and printmaker. She is co-owner and founder of Mixit Print Studio a professional open rental studio in Somerville, Massachusetts that has just celebrated 25 years with an exhibit 'reThinkink' at Boston Public Library. She is also part-time Director of Maud Morgan Arts. She teaches privately, in art schools, and in workshops around the country. Catherine is represented by Jason McCoy in New York, Dolan/Maxwell in Philadelphia and Soprafina Gallery in Boston.

Exhibition Calendar


  • July 30, 2012 - Submission Deadline. Entries must be submitted 11:59pm.
  • August 24, 2012 - Notification will be sent via e-mail to all entrants. Selected artists will be listed online.
  • September 11, 2012 - Deadline for shipped work.
  • September 12, 2012 - Drop off of hand-delivered work.
  • September 15, 2012 - Exhibition Opens.
  • September 22, 2012 - Opening Reception, 2-4 pm.
  • October 28, 2012 - Closing Reception and Pick-Up of Work (3-4 pm).
  • October 29, 2012 - Pick-Up of Work (10am-noon).
  • October 29, 2012 - Shipped Work packed for Return.

Exhibition Requirements


ELIGIBILITY:
  • Entry is open to all current members of the Monotype Guild of New England.
  • Work must have been completed in the last five years.
  • Work, including frame, must not exceed 16 inches on the longest side.
ENTRY FEE: $25, for up to 3 digital images.

NOTIFICATION:All artists will be notified by e-mail, and accepted entries will be posted on our website on August 24, 2012.

FRAMING REQUIREMENTS: All work must be framed and ready to hang. Please, no clip frames, saw-tooth hangers or sandwich frames (Exceptions made with notification and approval of Exhibition Committee). Shipped work must be framed using plexiglas. Size, including frame, must not exceed 16" on the longest side. The Exhibition Committee and the Juror may reject any piece that differs significantly from the accepted digital image.

AWARDS:The Juror will review and select Prize and Award winners from the actual work once it is delivered to the Munroe Arts Center.
  • $300 First Prize
  • $200 2nd Prize
  • $100 3rd Prize
  • Honorable Mention Awards (quantity to be determined by the Juror)
DELIVERY/SHIPPING: Accepted work may be shipped, prepaid, in a reusable carton in good condition with the artists name clearly on the packaging. PREPAID RETURN SHIPPING PAPERS MUST BE INCLUDED. Shipping instructions will be posted on the MGNE website.

INSURANCE: The Munroe Center has no insurance policy and requires all participating artists to sign a release form saying that they understand Munroe's policy and that they choose to exhibit at their own risk.

SALES: The Munroe Center takes 0% commission on any sold work.

PUBLICITY: The Munroe Center for the Arts and MGNE reserve the right to reproduce accepted images and/or artists’ names for publicity purposes.
