Kathy Connolly reports:
The MGNE exhibition, Unlimited Vision: One-of-a-Kind Prints , is currently showing at Endicott College through December 22, 2009. The reception and awards presentation was attended by close to 100 people, all of whom enjoyed the spectacular new exhibit space. Juror Dwight Pogue was on hand to discuss his selection process and praised the high quality of the submissions, regretting that his choices were limited due to space considerations. Pogue spoke of the special qualities of those works chosen for the show.
Specifically he was impressed by the use of photographic processes, unique floral designs and overall strong composition. In response to a request from the audience Mr. Pogue was gracious enough to comment on criteria he used to select the prizewinners.
First Prize, awarded to Ann Guiliani for Palm Anatomy, was chosen for its use of contrast and clean lines.
Second Prize went to Fran Henri-Meehan for Shirt of Honor , a haunting image of a western jacket consisting of many layers of ink on black paper.
Third prize was given to Jill Parisi for Radiolaria , a unique installation of hand-colored sculptural etchings.
Many thanks to all who made this exhibition possible.
Mary Taylor comments: The show represents so many different interpretations of monoprint and monotype and the facility is terrific. Personally, I am inspired by several of the works including the ones that are award winners.
Congratulations to all of the organizers and participants; the show is appropriate to the MGNE vision and in the midst of a gorgeous setting. I am honored to have work in the show and encourage all to visit the show. If you haven't been to the new art center at Endicott College, the Art Center is located deep within the Endicott campus: just keep going in from the main entrance and you'll come to this wonderful facility that is open to the public.
In addition to the MGNE show in the main lobby gallery are other galleries with interesting works.
