Water, Water, Water II 18

Beavertail Park, RI II 14

Breaking Waves
Over the years the content of my work has included images associated with places that are special to me, sociopolitical issues, as well as the expressive nature of space, texture and color. However, what I find the most satisfying is creating images relating to water, the shoreline, and the life forms nearby.
Many of my works begin with a detailed drawing. The drawing is simplified into color and tone sections, and then a series of lexon plates are rolled with ink and wiped to produce the layers of color. Sometimes the work created is a monotype, resulting from this multi-layering process. In other instances, I incorporate other elements such as dry point, image transfers, chine colle`, collagraph, and/or woodcut.
I strive to create images that appear simple and serene to the viewer/myself while employing varied and complex layering processes. What processes are used is determined as the print evolves.
