       Artist Statement

I received a BS in Business Administration from the University of Colorado while also pursuing a lifelong love for graphics and painting. While raising my three children, I found more time to create art than pursuing a career in business, although my degree has certainly been an asset. Etching is my first love where I work very realistically. However, after working so intensely on metal plates, I also enjoy the freedom of monotype and mostly they are very abstract. My abstracts often make no attempt to describe or define the physical environment but function to define color, form and emotion in a new way. "Waterfall" is an example of this.

I exhibit in regional and national competitions annually, and have been awarded membership in the National Association of Women Artists, Inc. and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. I'm a founding member of the Art League of Rhode Island whose membership includes of the Rhode Island's most prominent artists working in many mediums. Currently, I am on the board of the Monotype Guild of New England.
